Join a Community Interested in AI & Sensor-Powered Assisted Living Care
March 20, 2026
A team at University of Maryland, Baltimore County is exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) and sensors can be leveraged to support assisted living community goals such as improving staff wellness and resident safety.
They are trying to build a community of assisted living residences interested in learning more about advances in AI and smart technologies (such as smart speakers and wearables) and how these advances could be leveraged to achieve community goals. There is no expected level of commitment (how much you engage is completely up to you), but being a part of this community will provide convenient access to:
- Research on how AI and sensors are being used in assisted living communities to improve care
- Knowledge from real-world implementations of AI and sensors in assisted living communities
- Opportunities for:
- connection with other assisted living leaders using or interested in using AI and sensors in their communities
- low-level engagement in research, such as sharing your opinions through brief surveys
- deeper engagement in research, partnering with researchers to develop a concrete, tailored “sensor + AI” implementation plan focused on a priority goal you identify (e.g., reducing fall risk or staff workload, enhancing night-time monitoring or resident engagement)
I have attached a one-page flyer that provides an overview of the project. If you are interested in joining this community, please complete this interest form: https://forms.gle/s8TVvsAWTiSa7q527
