National Dementia Workforce Study
May 28, 2026
The National Dementia Workforce Study, sponsored by the National Institute on Aging of the NIH, conducts the first large, annual surveys of the dementia care workforce in the United States. Researchers can use survey data and other linked data sources for free to answer critical questions about the workforce and its impact on care and outcomes for people with dementia.
The national level study asks workers in AL, SNF, and home health several different things about their work, and compiles the data for public use at ndws.org. It is supported by the Alzheimer’s Association and AHCA/NCAL among others. Best of all, communities and respondents get paid for answering the questions!
