Managing Residents With Traumatic Brain Injuries

With a grant awarded from the Maryland Department of Health, Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ), The Beacon Institute has developed a specialized training program for care of individuals with brain injury who are residing in Maryland nursing homes or other long term care communities.  The following series of videos was produced to provide staff at skilled nursing and other facilities with the tools to provide optimal care for this unique population.  The videos address the challenges that caring for this population brings, including co-occuring substance misuse, and what can be done by staff to address those challenges.  The videos were developed with the expertise of the Brain Injury Association of Maryland and experts in the areas of substance abuse and brain injury.
